Here’s a simple and delicious KFC-Style Chicken in the Air Fryer recipe — crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and full of flavor! 🍗✨


KFC Chicken in the Air Fryer

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg (2.2 lbs) chicken pieces (legs, thighs, or drumsticks)
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or 1 cup milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or oregano
  • Cooking spray or a little oil


Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Chicken:
    In a large bowl, mix chicken pieces with buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight for best flavor).
  2. Prepare the Coating:
    In another bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, cayenne, and thyme.
  3. Coat the Chicken:
    Remove chicken from buttermilk, shake off the excess, and coat each piece evenly in the flour mixture.
    For extra crispiness, dip again in buttermilk and recoat in flour.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer:
    Set your air fryer to 180°C (360°F) for 5 minutes.
  5. Air Fry the Chicken:
    Spray the basket with a little oil.
    Place the chicken pieces in a single layer (do not overcrowd).
    Air fry for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway and lightly spraying with oil again, until golden and crispy.
  6. Serve:
    Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy with fries, coleslaw, or your favorite dipping sauce!

Tips:

  • If your air fryer is small, cook in batches for even crispiness.
  • Use a meat thermometer — internal temp should reach 75°C (165°F).
  • You can use boneless chicken for quicker cooking (about 18–20 minutes).
