Easy Butter Naan

Easy Butter Naan Recipe | Soft & Fluffy Butter Naan

Ingredients (Makes 6–8 Naans)

For the dough:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • ¾ cup warm milk (add slowly as needed)

For cooking & topping:


  • Butter (melted)
  • Optional: garlic, coriander, sesame seeds

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

  1. In a large bowl, add flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well.
  2. Add yogurt and oil, then start mixing with your hand.
  3. Slowly pour in warm milk and knead for 8–10 minutes until the dough becomes soft and smooth.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rest for 1 hour.

2. Shape the Naans

  1. After resting, divide the dough into 6–8 equal balls.
  2. Dust with flour and roll each one into a tear-drop or round shape.
  3. Optional toppings: brush the top with water and sprinkle garlic or coriander.

3. Cook the Naan (Stovetop Method)

  1. Heat a heavy pan or tawa on medium-high heat.
  2. Brush the top of the naan lightly with water.
  3. Place the wet side down on the hot pan — it will stick.
  4. Cook until bubbles appear, then flip the whole pan upside down over the flame so the top cooks directly (or simply flip the naan normally).
  5. Remove from heat and brush generously with melted butter.

4. Serve

Serve hot with:

  • Butter chicken
  • Chicken curry
  • Dal tadka
  • Paneer dishes
  • Kebabs
