Ingredients:

  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
  • Flour (for dusting)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth it out and prevent any cracks. Cut the pastry into 4 equal squares.
  2. Fill the Pastry: Place a spoonful of cherry filling in the center of each square. If you’re using fresh or frozen cherries, mix them with vanilla extract and a bit of sugar before adding them to the pastry.
  3. Seal the Turnovers: Fold each square over to form a triangle, pressing the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges and ensure they’re well sealed.
  4. Prepare for Air Frying: Lightly brush the tops of the turnovers with the beaten egg. This will give them a beautiful golden color as they cook.
  5. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 5 minutes.
  6. Air Fry the Turnovers: Place the turnovers in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd them. Cook at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes or until they are golden brown and puffed.
  7. Cool and Dust: Once done, remove the turnovers and let them cool for a few minutes. If desired, dust them with powdered sugar before serving.
  8. Serve: Enjoy your cherry turnovers warm as a delightful dessert or snack!
