Cheesy Garlic Chicken and Rice Bake with Parmesan Cream Sauce that you’ll love!
Ingredients
For the Chicken and Rice Bake:
- 2 cups cooked white rice (jasmine or basmati works well)
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
For the Parmesan Cream Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk (or heavy cream for extra richness)
- ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Prepare the Chicken and Rice
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced chicken, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, and cook until browned (about 5–7 minutes).
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1–2 minutes. Remove from heat.
2. Make the Parmesan Cream Sauce
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.
- Slowly whisk in the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Add Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and thickened. Remove from heat.
3. Assemble and Bake
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked rice, cooked chicken, and Parmesan cream sauce. Mix well.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly on top.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- For a golden brown top, broil for the last 2–3 minutes.
4. Serve and Enjoy!
- Let the bake rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or extra Parmesan cheese.
