Easy Butter Naan Recipe | Soft & Fluffy Butter Naan
Ingredients (Makes 6–8 Naans)
For the dough:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons oil
- ¾ cup warm milk (add slowly as needed)
For cooking & topping:
- Butter (melted)
- Optional: garlic, coriander, sesame seeds
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough
- In a large bowl, add flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well.
- Add yogurt and oil, then start mixing with your hand.
- Slowly pour in warm milk and knead for 8–10 minutes until the dough becomes soft and smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 1 hour.
2. Shape the Naans
- After resting, divide the dough into 6–8 equal balls.
- Dust with flour and roll each one into a tear-drop or round shape.
- Optional toppings: brush the top with water and sprinkle garlic or coriander.
3. Cook the Naan (Stovetop Method)
- Heat a heavy pan or tawa on medium-high heat.
- Brush the top of the naan lightly with water.
- Place the wet side down on the hot pan — it will stick.
- Cook until bubbles appear, then flip the whole pan upside down over the flame so the top cooks directly (or simply flip the naan normally).
- Remove from heat and brush generously with melted butter.
4. Serve
Serve hot with:
- Butter chicken
- Chicken curry
- Dal tadka
- Paneer dishes
- Kebabs
Soft, fluffy, buttery — perfect restaurant-style naan at home!
