Garlic and Butter Flatbread

Here’s a soft, flavorful, and irresistibly buttery garlic flatbread recipe — perfect as a side for soups, curries, or just as a snack!


🧄 Garlic and Butter Flatbread (No Yeast)

🕒 Ready in 20 minutes

🔥 Cooked on stovetop or in air fryer

🫓 Soft, fluffy, and loaded with flavor


📝 Ingredients (makes 6 flatbreads):

For the dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup plain yogurt (or Greek yogurt)
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp oil or melted butter

For garlic butter:

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2–3 garlic cloves (finely minced)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)
  • Pinch of salt

👨‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Make the Dough:

  • In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add yogurt and oil. Mix and knead for 3–5 minutes until soft and smooth.
  • Cover and rest the dough for 10 minutes.

2. Prepare Garlic Butter:

  • Melt butter in a pan. Add minced garlic and cook for 30–60 seconds (do not brown).
  • Stir in chopped parsley and a pinch of salt. Set aside.

3. Shape the Flatbreads:

  • Divide dough into 6 equal balls.
  • Roll each one into an oval or circle about 1/4 inch thick.

4. Cook (2 options):

Stovetop:

  • Heat a dry skillet over medium-high.
  • Cook each flatbread 1–2 minutes per side until puffed and golden brown.

Air Fryer:

  • Preheat to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place one or two flatbreads in the basket. Cook for 4–5 minutes, flipping halfway.

5. Brush & Serve:

  • Immediately brush each hot flatbread with garlic butter.
  • Serve warm!

🔁 Optional Add-ins:

  • Add shredded cheese to the dough for cheesy garlic flatbread
  • Sprinkle with chili flakes or za’atar for a twist
  • Use vegan yogurt and oil for a dairy-free version
