Honey-Baked Ham Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 fully cooked, bone-in ham (about 7-10 pounds)
- 1 cup honey
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar or orange juice
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves (optional for extra warmth)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). - Prepare the Ham
Place the ham on a roasting pan with a rack, flat side down. Use a sharp knife to make shallow cuts in a criss-cross pattern across the surface of the ham. This allows the glaze to seep in and flavor the meat. - Make the Honey Glaze
In a saucepan, combine honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar (or orange juice), cinnamon, and cloves. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly. - Glaze and Bake
Brush a generous layer of the honey glaze over the ham. Cover loosely with foil, and bake in the preheated oven for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C). Baste the ham with more glaze every 20-30 minutes for maximum flavor. - Final Glaze and Broil
For an extra caramelized crust, remove the foil in the last 10 minutes, baste with any remaining glaze, and turn the oven to broil. Watch carefully to avoid burning, and let the ham develop a beautiful, golden crust. - Serve
Let the ham rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!
Tips:
- Leftover Glaze: Save any leftover glaze for drizzling over the sliced ham.
- Serving Suggestion: Pair with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or fresh rolls for a perfect holiday meal.
Enjoy your delicious, honey-baked ham!
