Jerk Lemon Pepper Salmon Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (fresh or bottled)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest (optional for extra lemon flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon jerk seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Salmon:
    • Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
    • Place the salmon fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Season the Salmon:
    • In a small bowl, mix together the jerk seasoning, lemon pepper seasoning, garlic powder, paprika (if using), and a pinch of salt and pepper.
    • Drizzle the olive oil and lemon juice over the salmon fillets.
    • Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over the top of each fillet. You can gently rub it in with your fingers to make sure it’s well-coated.
  3. Marinate (Optional):
    • If you have time, you can let the salmon marinate for 15-30 minutes in the fridge to allow the flavors to meld. However, if you’re short on time, you can go straight to cooking.
  4. Cook the Salmon:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Bake the salmon for about 12-15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets. The salmon should be opaque and flake easily with a fork when it’s done. Tip: If you prefer a crispier texture, you can broil the salmon for the last 1-2 minutes of cooking.
  5. Serve:
    • Once the salmon is cooked, remove it from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley (optional).
    • Serve with a side of roasted vegetables, rice, or a simple salad.

Optional Variations:

  • For Extra Zing: Add a bit of honey or maple syrup to the marinade for a sweet contrast to the jerk seasoning.
  • Grill It: You can also cook the salmon on the grill over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes per side for a smoky flavor.
