PREPARATION:

Step 1: Prepare the Cake Batter

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin—this is normal.
  5. Fold in the Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips.

Step 2: Bake the Cake

  1. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
  2. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 3: Make the Frosting

  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer until creamy.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, alternating with the milk, until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 4: Assemble the Cake

  1. Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous layer of frosting over the top.
  2. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake, including the sides.
  3. Sprinkle additional Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips or chocolate shavings over the top for decoration.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Slice and serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra decadent treat.

Pro Tips for Success
