Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup (120 g) shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
  • 2 tbsp fresh herbs (parsley, chives, or basil) – or 1 tsp dried herbs
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk (whole or low-fat)
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) olive oil or melted butter

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and half of the cheese.
  3. Whisk wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and olive oil (or butter).
  4. Combine: Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Add herbs. Stir gently until just combined (do not overmix).
  5. Bake: Pour batter into loaf pan, sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool & Serve: Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
