Ingredients:
For the Crust:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

- 1 large egg

- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Crust
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and melted butter until crumbly.
- Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Bake the crust for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden. Set aside to cool.
Step 2: Make the Cheesecake Layer
- In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
- Spread the cheesecake mixture evenly over the cooled crust.
Step 3: Prepare the Pecan Topping
- In a bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, corn syrup, egg, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
- Stir in the chopped pecans.
- Gently spoon the pecan mixture over the cheesecake layer, spreading it evenly.
Step 4: Bake the Squares
- Bake the layered mixture in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the center is set and the topping is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let the squares cool completely in the pan.
Step 5: Slice and Serve
- Once cooled, refrigerate the dessert for at least 2 hours to firm up.
- Cut into squares and serve. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
