Southern Salmon Pattie

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for making Southern Salmon Patties in an air fryer:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans of salmon (about 14 oz each), drained and flaked
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup bell pepper, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional, for extra moisture)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mixture:
    In a mixing bowl, combine flaked salmon, onion, bell pepper (if using), breadcrumbs, egg, mayonnaise, mustard, and seasonings. Mix well until the mixture holds together.
  2. Form the Patties:
    Shape the mixture into 6–8 evenly-sized patties. Make sure they’re firm and compact.
  3. Preheat the Air Fryer:
    Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
  4. Spray and Place:
    Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the patties in a single layer without overcrowding. Spray the tops of the patties lightly.
  5. Cook the Patties:
    Air fry the patties at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes. Flip them halfway through the cooking time to ensure even crispiness.
  6. Serve and Enjoy:
    Once golden and crispy, remove the patties from the air fryer. Serve with tartar sauce, a squeeze of lemon, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips:

  • If the mixture is too dry, add a splash of milk or an extra spoon of mayonnaise.
  • For a low-carb option, substitute breadcrumbs with almond flour.
