Homemade Sweetened Condensed Milk Recipe

Air Fryer Recipes March 7, 2025

Making homemade sweetened condensed milk is easy and requires just a few simple ingredients! Here’s a classic recipe for you:

Homemade Sweetened Condensed Milk

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole milk (or heavy cream for a richer version)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (optional, for extra creaminess)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional, for flavor)

Instructions:

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a saucepan over medium-low heat, add milk and sugar. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Simmer: Let the mixture simmer (not boil) for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally. The liquid should reduce by about half.
  3. Add Butter & Vanilla (Optional): Stir in butter for a smoother texture and vanilla for flavor.
  4. Check Consistency: The mixture should be thick and creamy. It will thicken more as it cools.
  5. Cool & Store: Let it cool completely before transferring to an airtight jar. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Tip: If you want a dairy-free version, use coconut milk instead of whole milk!

Would you like a microwave version for quicker results?
