Cajun Fried Shrimp
Ingredients:
Crispy Shrimp:
- 12 large raw shrimp, peeled but with tails left on
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon zest
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
For the Cajun Sauce:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons sour cream
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
Instructions:
- Prepare the shrimp: In a bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, lemon zest, and Cajun seasoning. Place the panko breadcrumbs in another shallow dish.
- Coat the shrimp: Dip each shrimp into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat it in the panko breadcrumbs.
- Fry the shrimp: Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the shrimp in the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden and crispy. Remove the shrimp and drain on paper towels.
- Prepare the Cajun sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, ketchup, and Cajun seasoning.
- Serve: Serve the crispy shrimp with the Cajun sauce on the side for dipping.
